HUMANITY
An exploration in to the human experience
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE HUMAN?
An exploration in to the human experience through the lens of a bird, sexual experiences, childhood memories, and high school peer-pressure.
Emily Painter focuses specifically on childhood memories and life-changing events. What would the human experience look like if we specifically view it through the eyes of a child?
A COLLECTION OF MEMORIES
A Collection of Collages and Paintings
WHAT DO WE REMEMBER?
A Collection of Memories is about crucial life experiences that have shaped me in to the artist I am today. These experiences are a mix of positive and negative, and are examined by the ripping away of paper coverings. Like memories, these pieces are only visual fragments from past events that will never be able to be fully realized. I invite you to come on this journey with me as we visually piece together my past life through this artistic lense.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Emily Painter
Born in Charleston, South Carolina, I have grown up experiencing the beautiful art of the lowcountry surrounded by incredibly supportive and talented artists. After attending Converse University and completing my BA in Studio Art with a minor in Art History, I have now moved to Whitewater Wisconsin to be the artist mentor to children and adults with disabilities at Studio 84 Inc.
My artwork focuses on my own childhood experiences and memories, but continues to evolve as I further explore how to depict childhood through new mediums and images.
